In the evaluation of the different sources, I have valued the data provided by Fred Wright concerning Location, Date, Biotop etc., except of the identification of the species caught, as being primary (The only author participating in the collecting trip) and where differenses occur with other authors, as being more valid.

Concerning the identification of the different species, I have divided the authors into three groups:

1. Etzel, V. and Berkenkamp, H.O.

2. Scheel, J.J. and Radda, A.C.

3. Wright, A.J. and Böhm, O.

I have given data provided by the authors in group 1 first priority, because they have conducted detailed studies of the fish from many of the locations, based on cross-breeding, meristic- and phenotypic analysis. The authors (although very experienced) in group 2 have based there identifications entirely on phenotypic analysis.

In group 3 I have included the less experinced aurthors. It should also be considered that Fred Wright had trouble identifying Roloffia roloffi, and occasionly in differating this species from Roloffia geryi. This is also the case regarding the various Epiplatys and Aplocheilichtys species. So in the cases where non of the specialists have restudied the material, the listing of species can not be considered a 100 % valid.

If you have knowledge of further material that could help complete the list, or you detect any errors, or disagree with any of my conclusions I would be glad to hear from you.
